Football is a game about angles and Madden simulates this rather perfectly. A defender's main goal is to keep the offense out of the end zone, but guarding deep passes can break that.

When the ball rise high into the air, you need to quickly address the situation and act accordingly. A wrong move can lead to a touchdown or a big completion. Don't get greedy here, if the ball is going towards the receiver and there's no chance of you getting an interception then don't go for one. Instead, play the receiver and/or go for a swat.
