Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC is now available on Steam

The PC release of Red Dead Redemption 2 will be completed later this week with the Steam launch. Rockstar Games announced as much last week, although it would have been easy for fans to have missed the announcement. A short post was shared via the studio’s Twitter account, confirming the release date of Red Dead Redemption 2 on Steam. The game has been available on the PC platform for almost a full month, via other storefronts and the Rockstar Games Launcher. But soon, gamers who held out for the Steam version of RDR2 will be able to explore the West through the eyes of Arthur Morgan.

Publisher Rockstar Games first released the open-world game for PC on its own platform in November, but players ran into a ton of issues that caused games to crash or not even start. The publisher explained that the problems stemmed from a combination of graphics drivers, GPU cards and certain CPUs. Rockstar released multiple patches throughout November to help address the issues, with the latest update coming on Dec. 3. In addition to Steam Achievements, Steam Chat and Steam Broadcast functionality, Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC on Steam also has all the new features and updates added to the PC version of the game. To compensate players who weren't able to play Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar released a special care package for PC players. The contents of the package are for use in the game's multiplayer version, Red Dead Online, and include ammo, health items and a Prieto Pancho for the player's character.
